Applying for Certifcation
There are conditions that require implementation prior to a formal application for certification. Applicants should ensure that their application can meet the terms and conditions necessary certification.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS FOR CERTIFICATION |

All conditions and Halal requirements set by GCHCS must be met before submitting your application. |

You must start your Halal operations before any inspection can be carried out. |
|
3 |
If your establishment is a fast-food chain or operates under a franchise scheme, you must submit individual applications for each outlets. |

There will be many random spot checks when Muslim employees are not involved in the production or preparation of Halal products or foods. Their presence makes makes it easy in helping to continually verify all Halal food sources. Receits must be produced immediately on request at the time of spot checks. |

Only Halal foods are to be served. Pork (this includes other references like, bacon, ham, crackling, or gammon) and its by-products are not to be served. They cannot be used in any of the foods. |

All meat or poultry used must be slaughtered by qualified Muslims. |

7 |
All foreign Halal slaughtering certificates for imported meat/poultry must be issued by Islamic authorities approved by GCHCS. |

8 |
Animal-based ingredients, such as gelatine and shortening, must be derived from a Halal source. |

9 |
Halal foods should not in the course of preparation, processing, transportation or Storage been in contact with non-Halal foods. |

All crockery, cutlery, cooking utensils and equipment, chillers, freezers and cold rooms must be cleansed and GCHCS will keep check at any time. |

Mixing of crockery, cutlery, cooking utensils and equipment for Halal and non-Halal foods which may occur during preparation, collection, washing or storing must be avoided. |

Separate washing and drying equipment for such items must be provided. |

13 |
No staff shall bring non-Halal foods or beverages onto the premises. |

Inspection of Operations
GCHCS Halal lnspection Officers will conduct an unannounced visit to the applicant's premises to verify information given in the application form and to ascertain that the production or preparation of products or foods meet Halal requirements. They will inspect and evaluate the establishment's Halal control system and the effectiveness of its implementation. They will also check that there is proper supervision by Muslim employees in ensuring that the Halal status of the operations is maintained consistently. A repeat inspection may be carried out before an application is approved.
Renewal of Halal Certificate
Halal certificates are issued valid for one year from date of approval. To renew the certificate a renewal application must be submitted along with the appropriate annual fee. This should be done at least two weeks before expiry of the current certificate to allow adequate time for processing, inspection, etc. renewal application available from this website.
